A regular hot yoga practise involving aligned and correct backward bending lays the foundation for a healthy spine and improved flexibility.
Our very first Backbending Workshop promises to be an immersive experience, where you'll get valuable insights and immerse yourself in the practise of backbending. You'll now learn techniques to improve your backbends, helping you prevent or recover from back problems resulting from a sedentary lifestyle involving unhealthy levels of sitting, lifting and forward bending without balancing out the constant one-sided stress on the spine. Safe and deep back bending requires the opening of all sections of the spine; cervical, thoracic and lumbar.
LEARN THE THEORY, THEN DIVE INTO THE PRACTISE
Backbends have an amazing uplifting effect on us mentally, physically and emotionally and are powerful energy enhancers which promote instant vitality and wellbeing. New levels of energetic freedom and openness are available when a fuller range of motion in the spine is accessed, and the chest and heart are opened. Backbends are the core of the Bikram yoga series and part of several postures from Half Moon to Standing Bow, Cobra, Locust, Floor Bow or Camel. Regular, aligned and correct backward bending lays the foundation for a healthy spine and the recovery from back injuries or herniated discs.
This wonderful workshop will break down each section working on theory, tips & techniques in relation to asanas/postures. Part of the class will involve practising the techniques, and all asanas will be counteracted with gentle forward stretches or compressions to create overall balance in the body.
Whether you are yearning to drop back into Wheel or simply want to incorporate practise techniques to help cure a back problem, this hands-on workshops presents the opportunity to get playful with your practice and try things you believe you can't do, or don't know how to do. You will receive alignment adjustments & assistance and have the opportunity to work past your fear and try out poses in a safe and fun environment. There will also be opportunity to ask questions and get specific feedback. Bring pen and paper and be prepared to do some fun yoga mat work!
