BYL Express (60 Min)

BYL Express, a fantastic 60 minute sweat sesh based on the original Bikram Yoga series, is the perfect way to get an awesome yoga fix inside an hour!

BIKRAM YOGA'S 60 MINUTE HOT YOGA SESSION 

The BYL Express class is almost identical to the 90-minute class except that some postures have one set instead of two. Some refer to this as is Bikram Yoga ‘lite’, but while shorter than the original series, this 60 minute sequence represents a wonderful, fast paced 60 minute challenge.  

Look for this class in several places on our schedule, including early mornings, lunchtimes and late evenings. BYL Express is a perfect way to get a powerful yet calming Bikram Yoga fix to meet even the tightest London schedules.

Yes. The 60 minute Bikram Yoga sequence is suitable for Beginners, though if you’re starting from scratch, you may find it helpful to try a couple of the 90 minute classes so you can learn the sequence at a slower pace.

For all our classes you’ll need a yoga mat, two large towels and a bottle of water (all these items are rentable at the studio).

Bikram Yoga is done at 40 C, resembling a balmy, tropical beach climate! As with any activity, for most people the first class can be challenging (typically due to the heat). It typically gets easier quickly from there and very likely you’ll soon be craving the heat, particularly as your body starts to change. We have students ranging in age from 17 to 80, so no matter what your age or level of fitness, Bikram yoga is a great way to begin. 

Clients have been measured at our studio burning 1400+ calories, however the general consensus for those doing the full (90 minute) class with reasonable effort is that you’ll burn around 800-1000 calories (expecting around a third fewer calories burned for the 60 minute sequence). People often report seeing changes in their bodies after the first few classes. Clothing feels looser, and the body starts to reshape itself as it becomes stronger and leaner. As far as a comparison to other activities, weightlifting when done correctly can build mass, while spin/cycling can be an effective way to build up bulk in the lower body. Yoga is a deep stretch, designed to make the body strong, lean and flexible.
